Rev. Cornelius Johnson is a native of Columbia, Maryland. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Master of Divinity Degree from Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Greenville, South Carolina. He is also currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) through Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary.
Early in his ministry, Pastor Johnson served as an associate pastor for three and a half years at Mt. Carmel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Somerset, New Jersey. In January 2004, he was commissioned as an active-duty military chaplain. For over 22 years, he provided spiritual leadership and pastoral care across the Armed Forces, serving both Air Force and Navy personnel. His military career included assignments with Marine battalions, service aboard Navy ships, and deployments to South Korea, the Middle East, and Honduras. He will officially retire from active duty this August.
In service to the broader church, Pastor Johnson has served on the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) Chaplains Committee for over 15 years and has been a dedicated board member of Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary for 9 years.
He has been happily married to his wife, Deidre, for 27 years, and together they have one son, Daniel, who currently works in New York City. Pastor Johnson is deeply grateful for the Lord’s guidance in bringing his family to Trinity OPC, and he is filled with joy to be called to shepherd this congregation, desiring to faithfully preach the riches of Christ and labor alongside you for the growth of His kingdom.
