Joseph: A Type of Christ

Joseph: A Type of Christ

The generations of . . .

The Book of Genesis is divided up using these words: the generations of “someone or something”. In fact, Genesis 2:4 introduces the reader to “the generations of the heaven and of the earth”. In Chapter 5, we read about the “generations of Adam.” The last generation named is that of Jacob. This sermon series picks up with that line in Genesis 37 and carries through to the end of the book. Much of this account concerning the generations of Jacob focus on the life of Joseph, Jacob’s beloved son. Yet, as we learn about Joseph and his brothers, the reader is constantly being taught much about man’s sinful nature, the love and mercy of God, and the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ.
